500G Turkey Mince

2 cloves of garlic

1 large onion

1 egg

1 slice of bread (I used wholemeal)

Handful of fresh parsley

1 tsp Cinnamon

1 tsp paprika

PREP TIME: 10 min, COOKING TIME: 20-25 min, SERVINGS: 4

Preheat oven to 180C/fan

-Roughly chop up the garlic, onion, bread and parsley and blitz together in a mixer adding the egg also (This is optional – you could just thinly chop ingredients but my toddler won’t eat them if they have chunky pieces in so I like to blitz mine to make a smooth paste)

-Empty ingredients into a large bowl and add the turkey mince and spices with a little seasoning

-With your hands, mix the ingredients all together until it’s all combined. Break up the mince with your fingertips and fold it over repeatedly until it has combined and has formed one large ball

-With your hands, pull small pieces of mixture and roll in your hands to form a golf sized ball. Repeat until you have used all the mixture (it should make around 24-26 balls depending on size)

-Line the balls onto a flat oven tray and place in the oven for around 15-20 minutes (until they have slightly browned)

-Take them out of the oven then finish off cooking them in a pan with a little olive oil (this will give them a nice crisp coating)

TIP: The reason why I oven bake them first is because if you fry them without cooking them in the oven, the balls will lose their shape and fall apart when turning them as they are too soft.

I marinade them in a lovely tomato sauce made from scratch and serve with spaghetti. Delicious!
